TOPIC:

Details of a Risk Management Program - Healthcare Water Systems

By: Heather Platt

Presentation Summary:

Hospitals are increasingly in need of water risk management planning to reduce and eliminate the possibility of waterborne illness. ASHRAE recently published the new standard ASHRAE 188-2021 and 514-2023 to establish minimum requirements for building water systems. To assist hospitals in complying with the new standard, ASHE has published a monograph that provides detailed guidance on the development and implementation of a water management program. This session offers a review of the newly published ASHE water management monograph.

·         Understand the importance of a water management program

·         Develop a water management program to protect patients, visitors, and staff from waterborne pathogens

·         Meet the water system requirements of CMS Condition of Participation, TJC Environment of Care, and ASHRAE Standard 188
